Sender Policy Framework, or SPF, is a validation system, that is used to prevent the so-called email spoofing where an e-mail message can be sent from one email address, but to appear as being sent from a different one, often with the purpose to scam the recipient for some reason. If SPF protection is enabled for a domain name, a unique record is created for it in the Domain Name System and all DNS servers worldwide receive it. The record includes all mail servers that are allowed to send legitimate messages from an e-mail address within the domain. When an e-mail is sent, the first DNS server it goes to checks the SPF record and if its sending server is authorized, the message is forwarded to the target receiver. In case, however, the sending server is not present in the SPF record for the particular domain, the e-mail message won't be sent and it will be discarded. When you employ this solution, it'll prevent third parties from sending spam which seem to have been sent from you.

SPF Protection in Cloud Hosting

SPF protection can be activated for every domain name hosted in a cloud hosting account on our cloud platform with just a few mouse-clicks. The function is available in the Emails section of our state-of-the-art Hepsia Control Panel and all it takes to enable it is to select one of your domain names from the drop-down list and then type in the hostnames as well as the IPv4 or IPv6 addresses of the email servers which will be authorized to send messages from your emails. As an additional option you can also restrict the emails to be sent from your domain name only when it includes our MX records, i.e. if our servers handle the email addresses for it, not a third-party supplier. This solution offers you the top level of security, but it is not applicable when only your website is on our servers while your email addresses for the domain name are handled elsewhere. Either way, the SPF protection service will keep your emails secure from being used for spam and/or scam purposes.

SPF Protection in Semi-dedicated Servers

The Hepsia web hosting Control Panel, which is included with our semi-dedicated hosting plans, offers you an incredibly user-friendly interface to activate the SPF protection service for every domain name that you host within your new account. Just a few clicks in the Emails section of Hepsia will be enough for that and you'll only have to type in the hostname and the IP address of the mail server which will be allowed to send out messages from your e-mails. If the e-mails are managed by us and not by a different provider, you can increase the security level even further and activate an option for all of the outgoing e-mails to be sent only if your domain names include our MX records. This option gives you more control and it'll eliminate any chance of anyone faking your email addresses with the purpose of spamming and scamming people. It's not applicable if just your site is hosted on our advanced cloud web hosting platform, while your emails are managed by another provider. If you aren't sure what features to pick, our technical support staff will assist you 24/7.
